SAMUI, THAILAND (24 August 2018)<\/em> \u2013 Silavadee Pool Spa Resort today announced the plan to remove single-use plastic straws. After September 1, 2018, plastic straws will be banned from all outlets. Straws will be available on request only, and eco-friendly alternatives will be provided where available.<\/p>\n

Khun Chonlada Soonthonvasu, Managing Director of Silavadee Pool Spa Resort, said,<\/p>\n

\u201cRemoving plastic straws is one of the simplest ways our guests can contribute to plastic reduction when staying in Silavadee Pool Spa Resort. We\u2019re cognizant of our impact on the environment and we remain committed to doing our part to sustain the planet for future generations of travelers. We have held the sustainable policies in internal practices and supported local communities since the resort opened in 2008.<\/p>\n

We are excited to do our part by skipping the straw and helping reduce the number of plastic straws in the ecosystem. Straws are just one component of the work we\u2019re undertaking to eliminate single-use plastics from our supply chain and shift to recyclable or compostable materials wherever possible.

Silavadee Pool Spa Resort has been practicing environmental friendly initiatives, for example, waste management, sells any waste paper and reduce electricity consumption. A phenomenon of the endangered Green Sea Turtle and Hawksbill Turtle to lay their eggs at the beach near Silavadee Pool Spa Beach Resort every two years is perhaps the greatest testament to the work and philosophy of this luxury resort with their \u201cback to nature\u201d concept and practices.
